TCBS Agar

Usages:
For selective isolation of enteropathogenic vibrios, especially for Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio parahaemolyticus.

Principle:
Multivalent peptone, yeast extract powder provides carbon and nitrogen sources, vitamins and growth factors; sodium chloride can stimulate the growth of Vibrio; bromothymol blue and thymol blue are pH indicator; agar as medium coagulant.

Sodium citrate ------------10g

Sodium thiosulfate ---------------10g

Cholate -----------------------3g

Ox bile powder-------------------5g

Sugar ---------------------20g

Ferric citrate -----------------1g

Agar ---------------------15g

Bromothymol blue --------------0.04g

Thymol blue----------------- 0.04g

Final pH ---------------------8.6 ± 0.2
